814 - The battle for the throne continued

Harald Klak and Reginfred tried another comeback but was defeated and Reginfred was killed, also one of the older sons of Godfred was slain in the battle.

Harald Klak got refuge with the Obotrites and Charlemagne promised to help, but the emperor died of pleurisy in Aachen 71 years old shortly after he made the promise. His son Louis the pious renewed the promise of Charlemagne.
